Pelican Pointe Women’s Association was formed in 2003 by a small group of women who gathered informally to share ideas about forming an association to bring women together for fun and interesting events.

Ten special interest groups ranging from crafts to gardening to theater were created, and a newsletter was issued to spread the word. By 2007, PPWA was incorporated as a 501(c)(7) non-profit social organization and the membership continued to grow.

PPWA now has over 600 members from the five HOA communities in Pelican Pointe Golf & Country Club, sponsoring over 50 special interest groups and events. All women residing in Pelican Pointe are welcome to join.

How Our Club Operates

Pelican Pointe Women's Association is a vibrant social club with over 600 members each year.  All leaders in PPWA are volunteers.  A Board of Directors oversees the organization's overall operations.  The President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary are elected by the membership for two-year terms, and the Co-Chairs of the Standing Committees (Membership, Communications and Activity Leader Coordinators) are appointed for two-year terms.  All of the social activity groups, special events, and services within PPWA are run by a cadre of volunteer leaders.  New groups can be started anytime that a new volunteer steps forward with a creative and fun idea.  The Board strives to make volunteering in PPWA enjoyable and rewarding, and welcomes input, ideas, questions and concerns from the membership anytime.

PPWA Scholarship Program History

The PPWA Foundation was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in 2024.  It is an outgrowth from the original PPWA Scholarship Program that was started within PPWA in 2019.  The Foundation is focused on providing scholarships to high school seniors in the Venice, Florida area.  The Foundation may also support other local charitable endeavors.

The PPWA Foundation works in partnership with the Pelican Pointe Women's Association on fundraising events and provides regular updates on program accomplishments to PPWA members.  Donations to the PPWA Foundation are gratefully received and may be tax deductible as allows by law.
